Maternity Born

by admin on December 27, 2010

As a current retail sales associate of Japanese Weekend and goddaughter of JW owner and designer Barbie White, I have grown up around this company from the very beginning. From attending the opening of the San Francisco store at the age of four, to working in the online department all throughout high school, and finally working in the SF store as a recent college grad, I have had the privilege to be a part of this company’s long history and have seen it evolve into the great company that it is today.

I consider myself a witness in seeing just how Japanese Weekend truly takes pride in its well thought out designs, excellent quality and locally made clothing. Interacting one-on-one with our customers, I have seen the many maternity and nursing needs of moms and moms-to-be. Japanese Weekend provides our customers with comfortable clothing that not only fits well, but also is designed to last throughout the entire pregnancy. Our “during and after” nursing tops and dresses are great for wearing even after your baby is born.

A lot of our clothing doesn’t even look maternity and even I, never having been pregnant, own quite a few of these items! We know you are looking for comfort in your clothing and that you want to feel that comfort, both at home and at work. We have everything you need- from our maternity jeans and maternity leggings that can be worn on those casual stay-at-home kinds of days, to our work appropriate pants and skirts. You can guarantee that you will find many items here that will suit your immediate and long-term needs throughout and after your pregnancy.

Real Mom Models

by jane on October 21, 2010

Did you ever wonder what it would be like to be a model? Here at Japanese Weekend we have been giving real moms-to-be the chance to find out. For the last few seasons we’ve been featuring real mom models on our website. Who better to showcase our styles than the gorgeous real pregnant women who wear them? Our designers and store staff are always on the look-out for fresh faces on the streets, in the grocery store, at our San Francisco store, on the bus, in the mall, everywhere! After the shoot we ask each model mom some questions about the experience…here’s what they said about stepping into the world of modeling…

Pregnant Model MellisaHow was your experience at the JW photo shoot?
Really fun and intense! It was great to experience trying on so much clothing and seeing it on the other models too. Everyone was really friendly and relaxed, and I loved being able to see the pictures as we took them. The whole experience made me feel so beautiful.

Pregnant Model KeikoWhat was your favorite Fall Collection piece?
I got to wear both of the bamboo dresses and the feel of that fabric was amazing! It hugged my body perfectly and was so incredibly soft. I’m also definitely going to be getting a pair of the corduroy bootcut pants. They were so soft and fit me like a glove!

Pregnant Model CamilleWhat did you like best about JW fashions?
I was impressed that during the photo session the designers paid close attention to what the clothing was doing on my body, taking into consideration the adjustments that would be necessary to make the JW product better for real pregnant women. I’m also now a big fan of JW’s denim. Every pair of jeans I tried on was so comfortable and moved with me really well.

Trendy Neck Dress in black

by admin on June 22, 2010

I love this dress! I wear it all the time for the comfort, the simplicity, and because it can even be a little sexy. I wear it with my sneakers, pumps, boots, any kind of footwear, and it
still looks fashionable. It’s very easy to dress it up for work just by adding a blazer. It’s my definite go-to item when I can’t figure out what to wear. It’s very figure flattering, and I love that when I inform customers that its maternity wear, they always do a double take and are excited to see how our clothes can transition post maternity.

Bengaline Pants

by admin on March 16, 2010

My favorite item has always been the Ok™ Boot cut bengaline pants in black. I wear these pants to work all the time because they give me a professional look. They are so comfortable and can be worn casually or more formaly. These pants can also be dressed down with casual tops so you can wear them out shopping or running errands!

For pregnant women, these pants have the most comfortable under- the- belly band because it’s not too thick or thin, and rests nicely on your abdominal area. This allows for comfort and a great style from the beginning of your pregnancy to your ninth month!
