The February issue of American Baby Magazine has an editorial about sexy lingerie for pregnancy and nursing, and guess what? Our new nursing nightgown was featured! This nursing gown can be worn during and after your pregnancy. And the fabric is so silky soft you will want to live in it!

Want something besides cute maternity pajamas for Valentine’s day?

Our luxe jersey convertible 2 in 1 maternity dress go skirt is the perfect date night dress. The d&a™ maxi dress

by admin on January 21, 2010

The d&a™ maxi dress is my favorite item in the Resort collection. With great colors and a fun pattern you can do so much with this piece.

You can dress it up or down! This dress is so comfortable and so soft. The discreet nursing capability is my favorite feature on this dress because you can still wear it long after your bundle of joy has arrived.

maternity blouse look top in black

by admin on December 29, 2009

My favorite style is the maternity blouse look top in black of course.

This maternity top looks great whether you are pregnant or not. There is a lot of stretch in the fabric that allows for months of growing. It is not technically called a during and after top like some of our styles, but because it crosses over in the front, it makes it really easy to nurse in this top after baby arrives.

I love the fact that it hugs my curves in the right places and actually makes me feel a little sexy again at a time when I am at my biggest; 36 weeks along and 4 more weeks to go!

gift ideas for the pregnant and nursing mama

by erica on December 10, 2009

Holiday gift suggestions

Do you know what you are getting the expecting or nursing mama on your list this holiday season? While there are plenty of gadgets that you can purchase why not give her something beautiful, comfortable and functional this year!

1. Pajamas: Our maternity nursing pajama set with ¾ sleeves, comes in black, lavender, pale sky blue and a beautiful teal and brown floral print. This retails for $66. We also have it in a sleeveless version that retails for $59.

Our comfortable maternity nursing pajama set are made out of soft breathable cotton. They can be worn during and after your pregnancy. Our maternity pajamas would be perfect in your delivery time bag so you can have something to wear that will allow you to nurse and lounge comfortably the first few days. Afterwards you will not want to put them away. I’ve personally had my Japanese Weekend maternity and nursing pajamas for 3 years now, and whenever a new print or color comes out, I always reserve a set for myself!

2. Diaper bags: Luckily now diaper bags are super stylish. This black and white lexie tote by Fleurville is right on trend. The green glam fabric is perfect because you can just wipe up spills. And the best part? It comes with a stroller attachment so you can clip it on to your stroller and it will stay in place and not slip down.

Not only do they smell great, but they are also good for you, the economy, and the environment! All of the lotions are organic and they are made here in the USA. Another great thing, all of their bottles come with a pre-printed return service label. Once you finish up the bottle just put the cap on and throw it in the mail and they will recycle the container. The stretch mark lotion has a wonderfully light pomegranate avocado scent and never leaves you feeling greasy. Pick up some stretch mark cream for the mama and some lavender chamomile calming lotion for baby!

These are just a few gift suggestions for the pregnant or nursing mama in your life. Any of our maternity clothing items would be a great gift. And for those of you afraid that she won’t like your choice, we also carry gift certificates!

My favorite new Wow! item from Japanese Weekend. You can wear this clever fashion-forward piece as a top OR as a skirt! The texturized “wave” pattern of the fabric adds a great dimension that somehow manages to be both sassy and classy. The length, as a skirt, is just over the knee on most, to fit both of those categories! As a top, you can wear it with or without the halter-angled ties—and over jeans or dressy slacks. I’ll be wearing it all over for the holidays, and beyond!

The fact that they are lounge pants can
be your guilty secret, because the cut
is so hip that no one needs to know
how truly soft and cozy they are.

I love that they are crafted from 100%
organic cotton, and that makes them
not just comfy and fashionable for you
but good for the earth too.

I love the cool innovation of the flip it
band…our designers are so crafty!

These are the pants that go anywhere – I
wear them on hikes with my dog, on trips
to the grocery store, to craft nights with
my girlfriends… I once even wore them
to a Raiders game!

Here at Japanese Weekend we love coming up with new ways to keep you comfy and cozy throughout your pregnancy and into your life as a nursing mama.  We know a  part of that comfort is having maternity pajamas and maternity nightgowns you can lounge in, sleep in, and, honestly, live in if you want!  Here are two of my favorites:

maternity nightgown with robe in hibiscus – i’m a sucker for toile prints…there is just something so timeless about them, and the pairing of the floral toile print maternity nursing nightgown with the solid robe, both in super soft rayon, creates a beautiful vintage look.

maternity nursing pj’s in lavender – these are our classic lounge maternity pajamas and my go to babyshower gift for every mom to be in my life.  We’ve been introducing new colors, and the lavender is my new fave.

And here’s a tip on japanese weekend maternity pajamas to come…this Spring we’re expanding our line of nursing nighties and adding some sassy maternity shorts sets with nursing camis, so keep checking back!

Chain Bring Us Together

by erica on September 4, 2009

A fellow co-worker and friend here at Japanese Weekend is going to be having a new wee one joining her and her family this January. Being that this is prime winter time here in SF that babe is going to be needing some serious coverage for the ride home. I being a passionate crocheter saw this as prime opportunity to try my hands out on making some miniature clothing ie baby clothes. Plus I don’t want my co-worker’s babe to look like a chump in some frock that the baby next to him is flossing (translation: wearing). He should be stepping out in some orginal fly wears making the honeys blush and the doods give a what’s up fist bump.

So I poked around some of my fav crochet sites and found some super cute projects that frankly made me want to gag by how precious they were ;p (that’s a good thing). I also was searching for super easy projects so to not get too over my head and end up being frustrated and saying to heck with this (that’s just lame). My search was successful and I’m going to share some of these terrific finds with you today. But first some “motivation” to get you started.

For you moms to be making your baby clothes is a great way to save some cheddar and learn a new useful craft. There’s no excuse to not get those hands a makin’. There are tons of websites, books, local yarn shops that are more than happy to help, and DVDs. I myself learned how to crochet in two hours from a dvd titled Wow! I Can’t Believe I’m Crocheting! that I found at my local library.

You don’t have the cash to get the supplies that’s just poppycock! I use Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Baby Yarn (yeah that Vanna from Wheel Of Fortune, funny huh) its super affordable at just $4 a ball and a crochet hook can be as cheap as $2. BONUS! What’s great about Lion Brand they have kits for their projects so all you have to do is pick which one you want to work on. Also most baby projects only require one skein (ball) of yarn which is great for beginners not wanting to shell out to much dough on their first project.

Enough “motivation” let’s get this party started chicas! Here are some links to easy and free projects to start on and links to some of my fav crochet and crafts sites. Get involved with the craft and DIY community search your hood to find some crochet groups or start one yourself and get your buds into it. It has to be the most satisfying thing for me to see something that I made and it being put to great use you should get that feeling too!

P.S. I’ll keep you updated on my progress with making mini clothes. Keep my fingers crossed that there won’t be any goofs like one sleeve obviously longer than the other or no hole for the head (ha that would be funny).

Websites I like and you should to:
Lion Brand Yarn: great affordable yarn and fun free projects

Crochet Pattern Central: tons of stuff. tons of amazing projects to keep you hooking

Craftzine: great site to get you crafting and DIYing for days
